Science Offensive 2016 – congratulations to the laureats!

The programme INTERREG V Upper Rhine approved 7 scientific projects of excellence as part of the Science Offensive call for proposals 2016.

Last spring, a total of 22 projects have been submitted in response to the Science Offensive call for proposals 2016. After a peer review procedure, the 7 projects which scored the most points have submitted a full application form to the INTERREG programme. The steering group of the programme has approved these projects during its meeting on December 8th 2016.

In these seven projects of excellence, roughly 30 research laboratories of the universities, universities of applied sciences and other scientific institutions work together. They jointly develop applications in the fields of renewable energies and resource efficiency, sustainable transports and vehicle construction, information and communication technologies, health and medical technology. Thereby, the transfer of technology and knowledge from research towards economy and society shall be encouraged and the territory of the Upper Rhine Region strengthened. Over 30 private companies are also participating in the different projects.

Roughly 7,6 million euros will be invested in application-oriented research in the Upper Rhine Region through the Science Offensive. The EU via the INTERREG Upper Rhine Programme finances 50% of this sum. The regional partners, meaning the Ministry of Science Bade-Wurttemberg, the Ministry of Science Rhineland-Palatinate and the Region Grand Est contribute approximately 25%.

More about the selected projects is available in French and German.
